JooJoo Tablet Gets UI Makeover and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Support

Date Published: April 30, 2010

The inclusion of Adobe Flash Player 10.1 support means the JooJoo Tablet PC, unlike Apple iPad, will be able to play Hulu videos and .flv media. This device also supports viewing full 1080p HD movies and can play several other video codecs like H.264 video and MPEG-4. Fusion Garage engineers are confident that their product’s processor and memory are sufficient enough to play full-screen HD movies without any glitches.

It should also be noted that JooJoo’s Adobe Flash support means thousands of Flash games and apps are compatible with it. This is where this tablet beats the Apple iPad. There really are far more Flash-based softwares available online. Most of them are free to download too. The tablet computer JooJoo (formerly known as the CrunchPad ) gets a serious beauty makeover with its support to Adobe Flash Player 10.1. After suffering snide comments about the bland and boring UI of its product, Fusion Garage acted and they upgraded the user interface of JooJoo. Judging from the screenshots below, they did a splendid job!

JooJoo, which means “magic” in the African language, is living up to its name. The new translucent user interface certainly offers an air of mystical charm. Its massive 12.1-inch capacitive touch screen display looks far better now than before. They changed the default desktop color theme from black into the lovely champagne hue. Fusion Garage engineers also replaced the formerly-utilitarian vibe of the UI with a more modernized grid that includes customizable wallpaper and a transparent bar that shows status but also has a large web address field. JooJoo’s scrolling behavior has also been updated with two new clever modes. First is a two-finger scroll that behaves like a scroll wheel in a mouse. And secondly, a single finger “panning” action that behaves like a mouse arrow. Users will then be able to effortlessly navigate around complex websites like Google Maps.

Text-input was also overhauled. There is a new smaller keyboard that can be used by one hand that is transparent and can be quickly dragged around the JooJoo’s display screen. Consequently, there is also a full-size virtual keyboard that does chording so it recognizes more than 1 key input at a time. Both on-screen keyboard are Multi-Touch accurate and typing with them is now a pleasure.
