Other companies are hitching on Apple’s bandwagon for Tablet PC. One of these is FreeScale Semiconductors. Not famous for making inroads to the computer market, FreeScale is a spin-off company from Motorola that formerly used to supply PowerPC processors to Macintosh machines until Apple switched to Intel processors in 2006. FreeScale is gearing up its SmartBook as a serious contender in the Tablet PC market just like Viewsonic for releasing their Viewsonic Vtablet 101 Android-Powered Tablet PC. However, Freescale is is offering its SmartBook for a bargain price of $199! This is in strong contrast to the price of the Apple iPad which starts at $499. Apple always sells its products at a premium price and FreeScale knows not many people will be able to afford it.
