Acer TravelMate 6292-6B2G25Mn Notebook Review

Date Published: May 28, 2009

After using Acer TravelMate 6292-6B2G25Mn Notebook for about one month now, we find this laptop a very good travel mate, literally. Not only is it small and light but it’s also powerful. Our review of Acer TravelMate 6292 Notebook is very good. In the Philippines, the price of  Acer TravelMate 6292-6B2G25Mn Notebook is between PhP 33-35K (around US$ 687-730). For a notebook this cool, we can say it’s an affordable laptop that you wouldn’t regret buying. To learn more about the features and specs of Acer TravelMate 6292, click on the link to the article.

Based on experience, there are good things and bad things about the Acer TravleMate 6292-6B2G25Mn Notebook. For additional good things (aside from those mentioned above), the 802.11 a/b/g/Draft-N WLAN has served us well in the past. Acer TravelMate 6292-6B2G25Mn Notebook’s wifi (or wi-fi) is very reliable indeed. We were able to use it in “hotspots” in Baguio City and even brought it in coffee shops during our meeting with some clients. We also feel secure with its Acer Bio-Protection Fingerprint Solution feature to protect the unit from illegal access. With the Acer Bio-Protection Fingerprint Solution, we are able to limit the number of people who have exclusive access to the notebook’s hard drive contents.

The only thing we do not like about Acer TravelMate 6292 is its being prone to overheating. You do not need a thermometer to determine if your computer is overheating of not. Although we have not experienced any serious trouble with this one, we believe this is an issue to some people especially those using it in places where the climate is hot. Even in cold places like Baguio City, Philippines, the notebook cannot dissipate heat as good as other brands of laptops.

As part of the solution, we use a notebook cooling pad to aid in heat dissipation, to avoid overheating of the notebook. It’s better safe than sorry. We do not want to lose our files should Acer TravelMate overheat. Worst, we do not want the unit to end up in some garbage bin when this event happens. We love the notebook and it’s constantly with us whenever we travel.

As a piece of advice, we would like to offer two solutions to possible overheating of laptops: 1) use your laptops in airconditioned rooms; 2) use notebook cooling pads. Although we have not experienced it yet, it could be that the battery is causing this evidently too much heat produced by Acer TravelMate 6292. This one is well-documented in Sony Laptop Batteries Cause Overheating. Read the article to further understand the severity of the problem.

If you want to share your own experinces with Acer TravelMate 6292, you may post your user review through the comment section of this article. User reviews of Acer TravelMate 6292-6B2G25Mn Notebook we have read online are mostly promoting the product without looking at its weaknesses. We love this notebook, no doubt about that but its not perfect, hence our suggestions to prevent overheating (read above).
