17-Inch Macbook Pro Now Available But Price is High

Date Published: February 28, 2009

In our opinion, despite the power of the 17″ Macbook Pro (which is now available at Apple.com), the price is too high. Yeah. That’s our take. The 17″ Macbook Pro is expensive. For $2,799, a regular notebook user can still save a lot of money out of this sum if he knows the right places to buy cheap laptops. With recent news about economic problems everywhere in the world, we can only visualize a few can-afford individuals to get a 17″ Macbook Pro laptop.

But what can you get from a 17-inch Macbook Pro notebook worth almost $2,800? Here are the basic features and specs of 17″ Macbook Pro Laptop:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 Ghz
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 320 GB Hard Drive
  • NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 512MB
  • Illuminated keyboard
  • Built-in 8-hour battery

If you wish to customize the specs of Macbook Pro, here are the possible options:

  • Processor upgrade up to 2.93GHz
  • Memory upgrade up to 8GB
  • 128GB or 256GB solid-state drive
  • Apple LED Cinema Display
  • Video adapters
  • Keyboard and documentation (language)
  • Apple USB Modem
  • MagSafe Airline Adapter
  • Apple Remote
  • AppleCare Protection Plan
  • Preinstalled Apple software
  • MobileMe membership

The 17″ Macbook Pro is really a powerhouse. No doubt about that but as technicians and businessmen in real life, we cannot recommend this to those who are trying to make both ends meet. If you will ask for our advice, think of practicality. In our humble opinion on this matter, choose the “right” laptop for you – cheap but powerful enough to handle your computing needs. You can still find very good notebooks under $500. All you have to do is scour the internet for laptop sales. But for the rich, of course the 17″ Macbook Pro is quite an attractive item. If you have the money, go ahead. We have nothing against anyone who want to purchase Macbook Pro. What we have in mind is a sound advice during hard times – go for cheaper laptops.
