iPhone OS 3.0 Release Date on April 17: No Firmware Update Seen
The much-anticipated iPhone OS 3.0 update was not seen today, April 17. It was rumored for about a month that the iPhone OS 3 release date will be on April 17 (today) and many iPhone users eagerly waited for the firmware update to become available online. Just like us who monitored this development, those users did not see any indication that the iPhone 3.0 OS update will be released today up until the publication of this document. The April 17 release date was just a rumor anyway but for the benefit fo the doubt, we kept our eyes glued to the tube 2 days before this date.

Apple even indicated that they might release the iPhone OS 3 firmware update in June (indefinite official release date as of this writing) but since many users would have loved to get their OS updated as soon as possible, the April 17 rumor became a date to watch.
