    I have downloaded the IPSW file and tried to extract it but it does not seem to contain a file with a ipsw extension. What am I doing wrong? No where in the file list is there an ipsw file extension. Thanks.

    download the iPhone 3G S 3.0 IPSW file and rename the whole zip file. change the file extension to ipsw.
