November 16, 2008 · Filed Under iPhone 3G Updates/News

Perhaps the most popular mobile phone today, the iPhone 3G despite its security issues, reportedly beat Motorola Razr, RIM Blackberry and LG in the third quarter sales in the US alone. With the popularity of iPhone 3G, there is no doubt it will continue to rake in millions of dollars more with this trend. Only up to the time a true “iPhone Killer” arrives, iPhone 3G will remain to be on top of the competition.

The top handset models in the United States in rank order, according to www.npd.com, based on unit sales in Q3, were as follows:

  1. Apple iPhone 3G
  2. Motorola RAZR V3 (all models)
  3. RIM Blackberry Curve (all models)
  4. LG Rumor
  5. LG enV2

Other cell phone manufacturers are in hot pursuit though and targeting other regions. Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic continues to sell in Asia and sales of the Blackberry Bold 9000 remains high in Europe. The cell phone race is really on and even Sony Xperia X1 is on the move. The first quarter of 2009 will be critical because after the reports on cell phone sales, companies are expected to come up with new ideas and mobile phone features to be included in future models. watch out for more hot cell phone models in this site so bookmark this site now or subscribe via email or to my RSS Feed for free.
