DreamPlug Ultra Small Computer: Petite in Size, Big in Features

Date Published: February 15, 2011

While the world focuses on the rising popularity of tablet computers and smart phones, there’s another emerging market for wall-socket friendly computers like the DreamPlug. Measuring a mere 110mm x 69.5 mm x 48.5 mm, the DreamPlug is a super tiny but powerful computer which you can plug directly to any wall socket!

DreamPlug Price and Technical Specs

Why spend $600 for a simple web server or media streaming computer when you can buy the pocket sized DreamPlug which only costs $149!

Despite having such a miniscule over-all body, the DreamPlug is jam-packed with features comparable with cheap netbooks. It has an energy-saving 1.2 GHz Marvell Sheeva processor, 1 GB of RAM, two USB 2.0 ports, 2 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000 Mbps LAN ports, 1 eSATA 2.0 port, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.

Due to its ultra compact form factor and design, the DreamPlug will use considerably less electricity and is ideal for Always-On computing duty like a webserver or media server. The Marvell Sheeva integrates both CPU and GPU processing duties. The DreamPlug can easily handle 720p HD video and can do decent multi-tasking.

The DreamPlug will be available by the end of February and is priced at $149. It comes with Linux but there’s no stopping you to try loading it up with Windows XP.
