Verizon Motorola Droid X: Motorola Droid 2 Release Date and Features Coming Out?
Are we expecting the Motorola Droid 2 release date this month? Verizon and Motorola are set to conduct and invitation-only press event this coming June 23. Based on the official invitation, the two companies will debut the latest Android phone, which I is long rumored to be the version 2 of Motorola’s popular Droid smart phone. This new super android phone is tentatively dubbed as Motorola Droid X and pictures of it has been leaked all over the internet since May. It is Motorola’s answer to the release of HTC EVO 4G at Sprint early this month. Pundits are eagerly waiting to know if the Droid X will dethrone the EVO 4G as the most advanced Android handset. Verizon and Motorola are also obviously trying to steal the spotlight from Apple’s iPhone 4 or iPhone 4G (iPhone HD to some) which is set for commercial release date on June 24.
I assume that the Motorola Droid X or Motorola Droid 2 name is not yet final and may still change into something really new? I noticed that it’s been the recent trend to make sudden product brand name changes. What was supposed to be the iPhone HD or iPhone 4G is now simply the iPhone 4. Microsoft followed it up with Kinect Motion Controller Xbox 360 announcement which was previously known as the Project Natal. Too bad I won’t be able to attend this exclusive event so I will get the satisfaction to hear a new name for this Droid successor. I have seen the photo and video leaks of the Droid X. I have so far learned that it has a bigger 4.4-inch screen and a faster 1 GHz processor. The video leaks showed it is still running on the old Android OS 2.1 rather than the latest Android 2.2 OS Froyo version.
As for other details, it will be pure speculation on my part to give them right now. I will still have to do some serious digging to get better information. A friend of mine has received the June 23 invite. I gave him 3,000 World of Warcraft gold as a bribe so he will let me have more info as soon as possible.
