If you love the first Garmin Nuvifone G60, then the new Garminfone Android mobile phone is something you shouldn’t miss. “Don’t get mad. Since smartphone makers like Apple, Nokia, HTC and most of Android handset manufacturers incorporating turn-by-turn free GPS navigation software on their phones, Garmin had no choice but to fight back.
The company has teamed-up with T-Mobile USA and released its very own smart phone model. The Garminfone release date announcement also revealed Garminfone’s price on T-mobile – $199.99 after a $50.00 mail-in rebate and will be bundled with a 2-year service contract agreement. This phone is exclusively available on select T-Mobile retail shops, authorized dealers and online shops.
Garmin Teamed Up with T-Mobile to Bring You Garminfone Android Phone
Garmin has joined the Android bandwagon. The Garminfone will be powered by Android OS 1.6. It’s rather old but don’t worry, this phone will be capable of OTA (over-the-air) updates. Not much has been disclosed about its internal components but Garmin indeed say that this smart phone will be compatible with the Android Market so you can install thousands of apps already online. The released specs for it are of the average variety. It has the usual Wi-Fi/3G/HSPA connectivity for web surfing. The 3.5-inch touch screen display is nothing to crow about. A 3MP camera with video capture is very basic. The only thing that makes it stand out is the integrated Garmin GPS technology which is by far still the most accurate and most-responsive. Another noteworthy feature unique to it is the new free Garmin Voice Studio software which lets you record custom voice directions for your friends and relatives.
Garminfone Android Phone Review: Overall, the Garminfone is a decent smart phone whose only shining trait is the powerful GPS navigation. just bought the new Garmin phone, the only way to describe it is WOW!!! The GPS is too good to be true, sound quality is great and video looks like hi def, you cant go wrong with this phone….jp
