Sprint HTC Evo 4G is topping the charts as Sprint Nextel and HTC Corporation jointly announced at CTIA in Las Vegas that Sprint will be bringing the first-ever 4G capable Android smart phone in the world this coming Summer 2010. Sprint has gained the exclusive rights to market the HTC Evo 4G in the U.S. and it proudly sets the record for being the first Android-powered commercial handset to be compatible with Sprint’s WiMax 4G network. The company already set the record for being the first telecom to introduce 4G technology back in 2008. Sprint adds another feather to its laurel for being again the first company to bring a WiMax-compatible Android smart phone to the public. Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said the device will be available as early as July 2010. While no price has been disclosed, Sprint is now accepting pre-order for the HTC Evo 4G, one of the new android phones this year that promises great value for money, speed and reliability.
The HTC Evo 4G was previously rumored to be the HTC Supersonic but HTC has decided to change the name to better suit its unique 4G capability. Evo is short for evolutionary and the Taiwanese manufacturer is proud to call its product offering to be the next evolution of Android-based smart phone technology. This phone may seem to be similar with the HTC HD2 in terms of physical looks but the HTC Evo 4G is obviously sporting the award-winning HTC Sense User Interface and runs on the latest Android OS 2.1. Just like the HD2, this handset boasts the enormous 4.3-inch capacitive touch screen display and is also powered by the latest 1Ghz Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm.
What makes the Evo 4G superior to the HD2 is its 4G compatibility. It can still work within 3G network but Sprint’s WiMax 4G data connection will make this phone the best of the pack. Sprint and HTC are aggressively marketing this handset as the greatest multimedia phone. It certainly comes equipped with enough processing speed to view full 720p HD videos. This phone has 512MB of RAM and coupled with WiMax’s blazing broadband speed, it can also stream HD videos from Youtube or other social networking sites. The emphasis on HD video entertainment is further augmented by the addition of a unique kickstand to the back of the phone. This kickstand allows you get the best angle for viewing videos.
The HTC Evo 4G has a built-in 1GB of storage capacity and it has microSD slot that supports up to 32GB cards. Thankfully, it also supports the industry standard 3.5mm headphone jack so you can use third-party headphones with it. Another unique and impressive feature is its dual-camera system. Yes, the Evo 4G has two cameras! It has an 8-megapixel primary camera and a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera that can be used for video conferencing or even as a tool to stream video contents to social networking sites like Youtube and Facebook.
People have lauded the HTC HD2 as the best ever Windows Mobile handset and I would also like to declare that the HTC Evo 4G is the best Android phone. Feature for feature, it certainly beats Google’s Nexus One.
