Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Face Recognition Feature and Technical Specs
Aha, the geeks at Sony Ericsson have taken my and others’ suggestion that it should make an Android smartphone in releasing the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Release date of SE Xperia X10 is yet to be announced but you may “pre-register” on Sony Ericsson’s website to receive notification of its availability. As you may also recall, the Windows Mobile 6.5-powered Sony Xperia X2 was recently dropped by Vodafone from its flagship roster. The British Telecom giant said they will focus on promoting Google’s Nexus One Phone instead of the Xperia 2.
The Sony ego got bruised badly and now they are intent on releasing their Android-powered Xperia 10. This model was previously known as Sony Xperia X3 and Sony Ericsson Rachael. It is the first droid phone manufactured by Sony and it’s coming this 2010 with a big bang. The Xperia 10 is equipped with a 1 Gigahertz Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm! I don’t think there is another phone model that packs so much processing power. One gigahertz for a small phone is almost equivalent to many netbooks‘ CPU performance.
While the early pics of the Sony Ericsson Xperia 10 shows it to be sharp and angular, it still comes as gorgeous and elitist as a Sony Vaio laptop. It exudes seriousness and arrogance which business people respects in a smart phone. I also would like to congratulate Sony for coming up with a large 4-inch capacitive touch screen for the Xperia x10. This is my biggest complaint about the Xperia 2 which featured a difficult resistive screen. The Sony Xperia 10 is the epitome of Sony’s ambition to provide the public with the best ultra-connected and mega-integrated smart phone.
Sony has modified the default Android 1.6 operating system for the Xperia x10 and called it the “open OS” UX – which means User eXperience. The most obvious modifications are geared to fashionably empower users in their quest for total connectivity. Some very intriguing technical specifications and features of Sony Xperia X10 Android phone include Timescape which is a clone of Motorola’s Motoblur software. It also aggregates all your communications from the web and from your calls and texts. Mediascape is Sony’s usher for all your video, audio, photo needs. It sports face detection technology (face recognition software) and can remember your friends’ face after you tag them. You can also call your friends or relatives just by tapping on their photo!
I am just saddened that Sony forgot to include a physical QWERTY keyboard for the Xperia x10. I have clumsy fingers and typing on a virtual keyboard is one of my phobias. If you wish to compare Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 with Google Nexus One and Motorola Backflip phones, follow the links to the articles. Reading these past articles on mobile phones will give you an idea which of the New Android Phones is best for you (based on your actual needs and budget).
