Palm Pixi Plus Release Date on Verizon Wireless Simultaneous With Palm Pre Plus
Palm announced via email that the release date of Palm Pixi Plus on Verizon Wireless will be simultaneous with that of Palm Pre Plus smartphone’s. The scheduled Palm Pixi Plus release date, by the way, is today (Jan. 25, 2010) – and it’s already out the last time we checked the websites of Palm and Verizon. If you love this device, check out these websites to know more about it. Don’t forget to check out our last two articles about Palm Pre Plus, too, in the related posts section of this story. Please take note that the Palm Pre Plus features and specs are almost the same as Palm Pixi Plus except for the weight and dimensions of these two models. Pixi Plus is lighter (weighing 3.26 ounces only) and has slightly slimmer but taller casing (actual dimensions: 2.17” x 4.37” x 0.43”) than the Pre Plus. See details about Palm Pre Plus Features and Technical Specs in the article that precedes this.
But let’s focus more on Palm Pixi Plus. You see, this smartphone was made affordable by its manufacturers and now equipped with WiFi. Palm Inc. finally realized their mistake and acted on Sprint customers’ complaint that the Palm Pixi last year was a great smart phone—-but it was crippled by the lack of Wifi support. Even though the old Pixi model is selling for less than $25 at amazon.com, not many people are buying it because of its glaring lack of Wifi capabilities. I’m glad that Palm Pixi acknowledged their mistake, it is essential that all smart phones should have Wifi feature built-in! As of this writing, Verizon offers this phone for as low as $99.99 (after rebate) with a 2-year contract, a lot cheaper than the Google Nexus One superphone. The Pixi can be had either by purchasing a new line or via an upgrade. If you are eligible for an upgrade and do not want to have more cell phones in your bag or pocket, just upgrade.
Along with the Palm Pre Plus, the Wifi-enabled Pixi Plus is being offered by Verizon starting today. This is a great coup for Palm. Verizon is the largest 3G network in the US. It has more than 89 million customers that might just switch to the amazing Palm webOS platform. Final prices have been given and I insist it’s worth trying out the cheaper Palm Pixi Plus first to experience the real multitasking power of webOS. No smartphone OS could ever compete with it in terms of speed and web compatibility since it is written in plain Javascript, xHTML and CSS! Palm needs to recruit more customers to use its Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus units to disseminate the magnificence of webOS!
The Palm Pixi Plus is lightweight but sturdy and much smaller than the bulky iPhone. It is suited for first-time buyers who want to try out an affordable device that can access email, facebook, myspace and browse the web. You can even upload your photos and videos to facebook or youtube in one tap of the Pixi Plus’ screen. Typing on the slide-out QWERTY keyboard is comfortably easy and the touchscreen LCD screen is large with vivid clarity and quick response. And just like its more expensive brother, the Palm Pixi can also serve as a wi-fi router for up to 5 devices. What it means is that you can use your Palm Pixi as the internet gateway for your desktop computer, laptop, netbooks, and PSP. Get free internet access for each device via your Palm Pixi Plus!
Palm is letting new users personalize their Pixi Plus. Head on to www.palm.com/artistseries and check out the new color selection for the Pixi Touchstone Back covers and express yourself by choosing different designs and color combos that suit your mood or personality.
