How to Configure Nokia N99i V9+i, Nokia N95 8Gb Clone and Other China Cell Phones to Connect to the Internet

Date Published: October 7, 2008

A reader once asked how to configure China-made cell phones like Nokia N99i V9+i (CECT variant included) and Nokia N95 8Gb Clone to connect to the internet. I have actually answered this question but I will provide here a simple procedure in configuring Nokia N99i V9+i, Nokia N95 8GB clone and other China-made cell phones to connect to the internet by enabling the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) services.

The configuration settings of Nokia N99i and Nokia N95 8GB to connect to the internet is quite simple:

  1. Go to the Main Menu
  2. Click Services
  3. Open WAP
  4. Go to Settings
  5. Click Edit Profile
  6. Choose a profile and Click on Edit Profile

From the Edit Profile Sub-menu, you can Rename Profile, Set the Homepage, Create Data Account (usually the GPRS Setting/s), Set the User Name and Password (which vary depending on your network. For GPRS settings, check your network documentation). A separate tutorial in setting up the GPRS and MMS settings will be written for China-made cell phones like Nokia N99i V9+i and N95Gb 8GB Clones. Stay updated with these tutorials. For your suggestions, please feel free to post them through the comments section of this page. Better yet, please susbcribe to our Free Newsletter (RSS) via email. :-)

Bullshit…..it s not possible to have internet on these china phones….its BUll shit…if you go in services you wont get any fucking wap option…all you get in services option is crap..cricket score and jokes and shit things…..no browser no…..internet….china phones are not for internet access….there are few exceptions though…www.bplmobile.com claims it has support for chinaphones for internet/wap/gprs….but they blackmail their customers by saying you will get internet on china phones but subscribe to our post paid service first….another bullshit company.

hi. i just purchased an n95 8gb china made phone since i was getting it cheap and i was surprised to see that it showed that it is an 8gb phone. but it doesn’t have any storage memory. this i really bad since i cant even save a single picture nor any songs nor i can play games. please tell me weather i can take it to any work shop and fix a hard drive into it. since i cant even use a memory card

  18. jessie on May 25th, 2009 1:54 pm

    Ralph,

I strongly suggest you take your phone to a cell phone shop now because they know better how to repair a Nokia N95 8GB Clone. With your statements, i believe the China-made phone you have purchased is defective and/or has sustained a severe damage.

N96 (clone) is trying to connect to the isp. Error message receive as ‘cannot be connected to the content provider’. Then sending request for phone settings, I receive sms from KSA Mobily. But the problem is, messages are not been saved to phone. I have already made all settings as per the guidelines shown. But phone not connecting. Now please give me the ideas, How can be saved messages to the phone. There is only one option ‘save message’. Save to the phone memory or memory card is not applicable. Actually the phone is not recognized by the network. Please tell me steps to be taken further. Great thanks and appreciation awarded for sending your help.

    Hi Jessie / Admin,

I have recently brought a Nokia N95 8 GB phone. The phone has a label stating its manufactured in Finland inside the battery casing. However i feel its China made Nokia N95 clone. It is without the inbuilt TV / Touchscreen option. The problem i’m facing is I’m not able to use flash , zoom or other options while using the camera. The Radio connectivity is very poor & the WAP option doesn’t works. Also the internal memory while connected through USB cable to a PC is shown as 412 MB.

Could you suggest me what’s wrong with this phone. Is it a problem with the OS or there is no hardware present inside the phone for Camera options. Further i would like to know how to format & reinstall the original symbian os.

    Please help.

    Regards,
