The cutthroat competition among Android phone manufacturers has reached a new high. Huawei gave telco MetroPCS the right to sell the Huawei M835 Android OS 2.2 Smartphone for just $79.99 without contract! This aggressive move by the company is very laudable. Finally, cash-strapped people can own a decent smartphone for less than $80!
The Huawei M835 Android Phone is a nice upgrade to the MetroPCS Huawei Ascend and Huawei Ideos U8150-B Android Phone. This new phone ships with Android 2.2 Froyo and not Eclair. It comes with a slightly bigger 2.8-inch display and the Huawei M835 presents a higher resolution of 240x320p. The screen is capacitive and supports multi-touch.
Take note, this is an entry-level model of phone so don’t expect any top of the line hardware. In fact, the Huawei M835 from MetroPCS only comes equipped with a single-core 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM7625 processor and 256MB of RAM.
It is still faster and better than the 230MHz QSC 6270 ARM9 processor found on the Pantech Pursuit II Smartphone. But for $79.99, get a full-featured Android smartphone that supports Adobe Flash 10.1 and full HTML browsing!
Furthermore, the Huawei actually has respectable features. It has a 3.2 megapixel camera that also shoots video and has optical zoom. Value for money is what this phone is all about. It won’t be perfect for 3D gaming but it has Bluetooth 2.1 and micro USB 2.0 support. MetroPCS is even giving away a free 2GB SD card with every purchase of the Huawei M835.
The Huawei M835 is a compact Android 2.2 Froyo smartphone. It has a rather small 2.8-inch QVGA display and stands just 4 inches high. There’s a 3.2-megapixel camera/camcorder onboard, plus Wi-Fi, GPS, stereo Bluetooth, 3G, and support for up to 32GB external storage. There’s also DTS Envelo software for virtual surround sound.
The handset costs $129 retail, but it can be purchased as bargain Android 2.2 phone at www.metropcs.com. Again, the Huawei M835 is being sold unlocked for only $79.99!
