Own a free Samsung Dart Android 2.2 Smartphone. This is good news for the Americans! T-Mobile is giving it away for $0.00 to those who will sign up for a cheap 2-year service contract. The Samsung Dart won’t compete with Samsung Galaxy S II Android Phone, but this compact handset offers full Android features.
Samsung Dart Android Phone is popularly known in other parts of the world as Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570. It’s an entry-level Android 2.2 phone that is quite a big improvement on my old Samsung Galaxy 5 i5503 Android Phone.
Samsung Dart has the ARMv6 600MHz processor that is same as the Galaxy S i5503, HTC Salsa and ChaCha Facebook Phones. However, Samsung gave the Mini S5570 a bigger 3.14″ screen instead of the old 2.8-inch screen. It’s still very small though despite getting a bigger screen, the Dart only measures 2.4″W x 4.1″H x 0.5″D.
Another improvement is that the Galaxy Mini S5570 or T-Mobile Samsung Dart comes with Android OS 2.2 Froyo and the new Samsung TouchWiz 3.0 UI. They increased the rear-facing camera to 3.15 megapixel resolution and it supports geo-tagging of pictures. Plus this phone’s camera can do QVGA video recording at 15fps, pretty good for a cheap handset.
The Samsung Dart is a Quad-Band GSM and Dual-Band 3G-capable smartphone. It can do 7.2Mbps data downloading thanks to its HSDPA support. It’s got Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro USB 2.0, 3.5mm audio jack. The GPS feature gets upgraded to Assisted-GPS standard. The audio hardware has also been upgraded to Stereo RDS Surround to get a much better sound playback.
I’m just unhappy that this 2011 Android phone is still sporting a measly 160MB of internal storage. But thankfully, T-Mobile is shipping the Samsung Dart with a free 2GB microSD card to have some space to store music and files.
Just pray and hope that T-Mobile and Samsung techs finally fixed the lack of Adobe Flash Player 10.1 of the Samsung Galaxy Mini that people complained about. This is an Android 2.2 OS handset, it should have Flash 10.1!
