Pantech Vega Racer: World’s First Dual-Core 1.5GHz Smartphone
A little known company from South Korea has beaten other more famous companies by being the first manufacturer to create a smartphone with Qualcomm’s MSM8660 1.5 Ghz Dual-Core Snapdragon CPU. Pantech’s Vega Racer lives up to its name because it is undoubtedly the world’s fastest handset. It beats the 1 GHz Dual-Core Tegra 2 CPU of the T-Mobile LG G2X Android Phone!

This is the world's first ever 1.5 GHz Dual-Core Smartphone, the fastest so far. No it's not made by Samsung but by Pantech!
Pantech even beats neighbor Samsung in rushing out the Vega Racer first in the South Korean market. The company says they already landed a distribution deal with SK Telecom and the Pantech Vega Racer will be available by June 2011. This beast is going to be offered cheaply under a subsided product bundled with a new two year service contract.
Aside from having dual-core 1.5 GHz engine, the Pantech Vega Racer’s processing speed is further improved by the inclusion of a 1GB of DDR3 RAM and the new Adreno 220 GPU. This phone will definitely outperform the iPhone 4 in every aspect. The discreet graphics accelerator also makes this a powerful gaming platform which has better hardware specs than the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY! Two cameras are also added to the Vega Racer, a front-facing 1.3MP camera and another 8-Megapixel rear-facing camera that will also record full HD 1080p videos.
The Pantech Vega Racer has a 4.3-inch TFT LCD display with 800×480 WVGA resolution. Despite this large display, the Vega Racer will only weigh around 120g inclusive of the 1650 mAh battery and is superthin at 9mm total thickness. Not sure yet if it will also support 4G and Near Field Communication but this phone will definitely offer Wireless-N, Bluetooth, GPS, HDMI and USB.
According to rumors, this phone will be sporting Google’s Android OS. If you want this new android phone, watch out for Pantech Vega Racer release date this coming July 2011.
