Samsung Droid Charge 4G LTE Phone Released by Verizon Wireless
After more than two weeks of delay, Samsung’s vaunted 4G LTE-capable smartphone the Droid Charge was finally be released by Verizon on May 14, 2011. This handset was first scheduled for commercial launching last April 28 but due to Verizon’s 4G network outage starting on April 27, it was demurely postponed.

Those who have been waiting for the Samsung Droid Charge should be overjoyed to hear that Verizon finally released this 4G-enabled smartphone.
The Samsung Droid Charge 4G LTE Phone (SCH-I510) is not cheap, Verizon will be charging prospective buyers of this 4G LTE-enabled Android phone a $299.99 cash price under a two year service contract. This Verizon offer will require buyers to sign up for Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk $39.99 monthly mobile plan and 4G LTE data package which cost $29.99/month. Droid Charge’s a pricey 4G phone and if you’re only after the 4G internet connectivity, better buy the Samsung SCH-LC11 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot.
This new Android phone is nothing special. Samsung Droid Charge is powered by the single-core 1 GHz Samsung Hummingbird CPU that’s also found on most Samsung Galaxy models. It will ship with the older Android 2.2 Froyo OS instead of the much newer Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread. It’s only claim to fame is its 4G-compatibility. Otherwise, this smartphone is just another variant of the Samsung Galaxy Series of Android phones.
The Droid Charge SCH-I510 does have another unique feature. Samsung gave it a Gorilla Glass protection layer to the 4.3-inch SuperAMOLED display so this phone is a bit tougher. It’s got an 8-megapixel camera that’s also capable of recording 720p HD videos. It’s got the usual Bluetooth, Wifi, USB, microSD features.
If you want a cheaper 4G LTE phone, then you are better off buying the HTC Thunderbolt 4G Phone that recently got a software update. It only cost $249.99 under a two-year contract. But if you are a fan of Samsung, then just visit any Verizon Wireless store to buy the Samsung Droid Charge 4G LTE Phone.
