After almost a year of repeated delays, Apple has finally announced that the white version of iPhone 4 launched yesterday (April 28) across different countries around the world. Verizon and AT&T have started selling the white iPhone 4 on the release date announced. Both carriers offer the 16GB white iPhone 4 for $199 and $299 for the 32GB model under new 2-year service contracts.
Other countries that will also receive the official White iPhone 4 are, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Macau, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand and the UK. Darn it, no Philippines on the list! I guess we won’t be getting this white iPhone 4 model until late 2011 then!
The white iPhone 4 models will be available from Apple’s online shop and at all Apple retail stores and a few authorized dealers. Since Apple has not issued any memo about purchase limits, I bet a lot of people will buy two or more white iPhone 4 units for reselling on eBay and other auction sites. So hopefully, by next week, those of us who are in the countries not mentioned above should be able to buy our own white iPhone 4 too! Just expect that we will be paying a big premium on eBay for it!
Philip Schiller, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing at Apple, was delighted to share this news. He said, “The White iPhone 4 has finally arrived and it’s beautiful!” I agree, the white iPhone is always cuter than the boring black. Even my favorite movie stars still held on to their white iPhone 3GS because they couldn’t just part away with it. No, they didn’t like the black iPhone 4. Sure they were impressed with its Retina Display and FaceTime video calling but for them black is the color for the masses.
Oh yeah, the white iPhone 4 has become a status symbol for the rich and famous here in the Philippines that is why I can safely presume that Filipino movie stars and millionaires will be going to Hong Kong and Singapore soon just for the sake of buying the white iPhone 4! I just hope that this white model will no longer suffer the antenna and signal problem that the original iPhone 4 suffered. They almost had a year to fix this problem on the white iPhone 4 but didn’t quite get the job done without flaws.
