I have a samsung a877 impression, and the screen goes blank every time I try to slide the phone and use the keyboard. I just bought the phone a day ago. And there must be some kind of factory recall on this item.

@Will, I had this problem too, except it kept getting worse until I would be lucky if either screen showed any sign of life. I’ve looked for a factory recall, but didn’t find anything, so I ended up spending three hours on the phone trying to convince AT&T of how terrible the Impression was, (I was fed up with it’s glitchy software and chintzy hardware), in an attempt to get them to give me a different phone. Alas, they refused, and I’m still stuck with this god awful excuse for a cellular device.

If you imply that the phone has been inaccessible for a long period of time however, and ask for them to compensate you for your inconvenience, they will give you some credit towards your wireless bill. I ended up getting $110 out of them.

Anyway, good luck. Hope this helps.
