Polaroid is synonymous with instant photo printing but due to the advent of cheap digital cameras, their iconic Polaroid cameras also died along with 35mm film-based cameras. Polaroid is trying to keep the business alive by offering a variety of products catering to digital photography. Their latest salvo is the Polaroid GL10 Instant Mobile Printer! They are accepting pre-orders for this marvelous invention at Polaroid’s official online store.
Just pay $169.99 price to own this revolutionary Polaroid GL10 Inkless Mobile Printer. Like the Dell Wasabi PZ310 Inkless Printer, it uses the new patented ZINK Technology to print out pictures. Instead of using ink cartridges or ink ribbon, the GL10 prints via the embedded color in the special paper it uses! This is an advanced technique that Polaroid used to do with their instant cameras. In fact, the Polaroid GL10 will print pictures in the same classic Polaroid 3 x 4 inches format.
But this time around the Polaroid GL10 prints faster. It prints a full color 3 x 4 photo in less than 45 seconds! This mobile printer is also very small, pocket-size and got a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery for ultimate portability. Print with it by connecting a USB cable to the computer or via Bluetooth signal.
Since this pocket inkless printer uses Bluetooth technology, it is also ideal for direct printing from, cellphones and smartphones. The Polaroid GL10 also supports the PictBridge so printing directly from almost all types of digital cameras is possible. The Lithium-Ion battery of this mobile printer has enough charge to print up to 35 photos.
Polaroid GL10 Inkless Mobile Printer will be released this June 2011. Exact release date was not announced.
