QwikMark Software Review: Tiny and Portable Benchmarking Freeware Comparable With CPU-Z and Sisoftware Sandra

Date Published: July 14, 2010

I found another freeware gem on the wild, wild web that determines the specific speed and overall performance of your PC based on several criteria. QwikMark Benchmarking software is a very small freeware program for Windows-based PC, the filesize of the free download is only 84KB. It offers intensive benchmarking tests that will show you how fast your computer really is. You can download it for free from the creator’s website located at this address: http://www.vtaskstudio.com/support.php#tools, don’t worry it is perfectly free of irritating adwares and doesn’t need any installation to use. This program won’t alter any files on your computer and will even run from a USB drive. The latest version is Qwikmark 0.4 and is only available for Windows computers.

QwikMark Benchmarking Freeware Review: I like QwikMark for being small and yet so efficient. I have no love for bloated and complicated softwares. In QwikMark, you just click one button and wait for 1 or 2 minutes and it will generate accurate data of your computer’s performance. The interface is very simple but it offers all the necessary information related to your hardware’s capabilities. It can tell you how many gigaflops your processor can calculate, how fast is your hard disk transfer rate, your memory bandwidth and your processor’s model/clock speed. As an extra, it also informs you how much RAM and GPU RAM are installed in your machine. The program runs in one single executable file so it is very convenient tool for benchmarking all your machines. The results are comparable with those created by better-known benchmarking apps like Sisoftware Sandra and CPU-Z.

As you can see I am still using an old AMD X2 dual-core desktop to write this article. But based on my QwikMark result, this old lady can still pump out 15 Gigaflops of computing power! I wonder if my using Windows XP has anything to do with this rather impressive rating. This machine is 4 years old and yet I got better results compared to my Windows 7 laptop. My notebook is Core 2 Duo and also has 2GB of RAM but it only scored 12 Gigaflops. What do you think?
