Google App Inventor: Visual Tools to Create Free Android Apps For Non-Programmers
Looks like Google is intent on recruiting more developers to the Android Market. The company just released a beta version of a new WYSIWYG Software Development Kit called Google App Inventor for easy creation of Android apps. The beta version of the aptly-called SDK App Inventor is now ready for testing. All you have to do is fill up the application at https://services.google.com/fb/forms/appinventorinterest/. Google App Inventor seeks to cater to interested individuals who have no programming background but would like to create an Android app (free or paid).
The Android Market has only about 70,000 apps which is less than half of what its rival Apple iTunes Store has but it has the most number of free apps (read “Android Market Has the Most Free and Cheapest Mobile Phone Apps, Tops Competing Apps Stores“). This release of the App Inventor may help Google catch up with Apple. There certainly are a big number of people who would love to make apps but the Java Language used by seasoned programmers to create apps for the Android OS is not easy to learn. I’m happy that Google has actually created a developer tool that’s so easy to use it allows you to create programs using drag-n-drop techniques.
Non-programmers Can Use Google App Inventor to Make Their Free Apps and Games for Android OS
I already signed-up for the App Inventor program. You should also do so. I’m a graphic artist by profession and always had fun creating dynamic websites using WYSIWYG tools like Dreamweaver and Adobe GoLive. App Inventor promises to be a great way to create apps and will never require you to do any coding. The website for this tool is already offering tutorials on how to rapidly create free Android apps and games. The functions of your program objects are implemented by dragging building blocks to the app creation.
