CVPiano Review: I really, really love CVPiano because it is the undisputed king of piano synth VST. TASCAM should not have stopped it! CVPiano or Continuous Velocity Piano uses advanced spectral morphing technology to create very authentic piano sound. It also uses convolution modeling to minimize file size of sample. Unlike the massive GigaPiano-II VST which weighs in at 1.1GB size download, CVPiano is a mere 180MB VST file!
CVPiano, despite being a smaller download, actually sounds better than GigaPiano-II because it has 18 times the number of sample layers! Thanks to that convolution modeling technique, this free piano VST will even fool Beethoven or Mozart should they be alive today to listen to your virtual piano playing on your laptop or netbook.
CVPiano’s creator used recorded samples from the legendary KAWAI grand piano found at the world-famous Electric LarryLand Studios in Austin Texas. The creator of this audio software also made it possible to do real-time dynamic expression that real piano players do. Using your MIDI keyboard’s pitch wheel and sustain wheel, you can emulate the great vibratos and crescendos of the great piano masters!
CVPiano was discontinued by TASCAM due to some legal dispute with Giga Technologies who provided the engineering code.
