If you think World of Warcraft or Call of Duty 6 is the most popular video game in the world today, you are so mistaken. This Guinness distinction belongs to Zynga’s simple browser-game Farmville. Yep! Farmville is certainly the most popular game in the world. It’s free and fun to play. With confirmed 60 million monthly active players on Facebook alone, Farmville is the runaway king of video games. It’s another uncomplicated game done in Adobe Flash that managed to capture the hearts of hundreds of millions of casual gamers around the world. Farmville got too popular too fast that Zynga was forced to create a separate website, Farmville.com, to ease the burden on Facebook’s servers!
Farmville: The Most Popular Casual Game in the World
We can say that deep in our hearts we all just want to be like our ancestors, simple farmers in a small town! Lawyers, doctors, police generals, computer geeks, everybody is not immune to the charm of role-playing in Farmville. And just like any other Zynga games, FarmVille is free to play. You can enjoy the great experience of being a farmer in the virtual fantasy of FarmVille without spending a dime. But if you do not have the patience of waiting for your farm crops to grow, you can always your plastic magic credit card to pay off Zynga for convenient farming. I will not spend any real money on this one. I want to enjoy the real painstaking wait of farming.

This game looks easy but it requires adept management skills and demands serious game time. How to play Farmville, you ask? Here’s a quick guide: you start off with a small plot of land which you can plow. Zynga gives you a few Farm coins to plow and plant on your farm land. FarmVille activities such as plowing and planting will cost you farm coins which you can earn back after you sell your farm products. Go ahead and plow a few lots. Click the Plow tool on the lower right side of FarmVille window. You can then use these farm lots to grow vegetables or fruit trees. Click the Multi-tool and click on a plowed land to open the Market pop-up window. There are some Farmville cheats, guides and tutorials we can provide you but sadly we have to break them down into several articles.
For starters, let us say that before playing Farmville, it’s up to you to decide how you should start off building your “farm empire”. However, we suggest that you should plant Strawberries first because they get ready for harvest in only 4 hours. This is a business you are running; you need to produce farm products for sale as soon as possible. The objective of FarmVille is to get rich enough to own the largest and most luxurious ranch farm. You need lots of farm coins to buy animal stocks and farm equipments. You need millions of farm coins to build Mansions on your farm.
You need to watch over your planted crops because if you are too late in harvesting them, they wither and die. Just like other social games, FarmVille requires you to add friends or neighbors who can help you tend to your farm. The more neighbors you have the more chances you get some of their free farm gifts. You also get the chance to plow and harvest on their farms which earns you lots of farm coins especially if you have very high level neighbors. You can also post fertilizing help notes on your Facebook Wall to earn extra XP. I am going to add all my FarmVille addicted friends on Facebook and just plow or harvest them for this week so I can enough farm coins to buy tractors and livestock.
FarmVille is more fun with the new animated animals which you can get as gifts from your friends or buy them from the Market. You can let pigs, cows, horses, and elephants, roam around your farm or put them in their holding pen. You can also adopt animals from your neighbors. If you want to gain extra experience points, you need to put up farm buildings like fences, grain silos, windmills, mansions and barns on your farm. You can personalize your FarmVille land by adding special decorations. There are collectibles you can have from friends or those that are only available when Zynga’s does special events like Christmas or Valentine’s seasons.
FarmVille is so adobrale and super-addictive. The Flash graphics are done in nursery-book style of illustration. It brings back memories of the song we all love as kindergartens, “Old MacDonald Had a Farm.” Even the music background is charismatic. If you enjoy seeing quick results for your gaming time, then sign up for FarmVille and join the farming army of Facebook. The world is a lot more peaceful if terrorists and revolutionaries learn the simple joy of farming on FarmVille.
