Motorola Droid X Android OS 2.2 Froyo Update | Motorola Droid 2 Release Date Finalized

Date Published: August 5, 2010

The Motorola Droid X release date is scheduled on August 12, 2010. The new Verizon Motorola Droid X (Motorola Droid 2) will have Android OS 2.2 Froyo installed in it when it’s shipped in the US. Verizon and Motorola did not confirm that Android 2.2 OS (Froyo) will come with the Motorola Droid X. Even the specs sheet of Motorola Droid X indicate that the available Android OS for this phone is not Android 2.2 but rather 2.1 (Eclair).

If the rumor was true, then Motorola Droid X running on Android 2.2 OS Froyo is really a great combo to watch out for. We’re pretty sure it’s going to be a bigger hit in the market compared to the original Droid phone especially in the US where Americans love new gadgets and don’t mind throwing away phones 2-3 months old only. The Motorola Droid Android 2.2 OS Froyo Update (through Over-the-Air, OTA) is, by the way, ongoing in many areas in the US. Good thing the first Droid phone got its share of the good stuff Android 2.2 Froyo has got to offer. Features-wise, these two Android OS versions don’t differ much except for some apps not running in Android 2.1 or lower. If you can live with Eclair’s shortcomings, then, you might not mind having it in your Motorola Droid X instead of the Android 2.2 OS (for the meantime).

For more info on Motorola Droid X, here’s what some of the good wordsVerizon and its maker, Motorola, have put in this new Android phone model.

It turns your hand into a larger-than-life 4.3″ screen with an 8MP camera, HD video, HDMI output, and a hi-res screen that’s high-octane fuel for your eyes. It runs at a web-busting speed that plants churning pistons where your legs used to be. It’s better, smarter, faster, stronger than you ever thought possible. It’s the next generation of DROID DOES.

Motorola even mocked the iPhone 4 for its antenna and signal problem that it even put on its website the campaign which can be summarized in a few words below:

Motorola Droid X Android 2.2 Froyo OS and Release Date

Motorola Droid X or Motorola Droid 2 Might Have Android 2.2 OS aka FROYO Pre-installed Before Being Shipped

NO JACKET REQUIRED (pertaining to the bumpers or free iPhone 4G cases given away by Apple in lieu of the iPhone 4 reception problem)
