Motorola Droid Froyo Update: Motorola Droid Android OS 2.2 Froyo Update via OTA
Check out the Verizon Motorola Droid update in our handsets right now as the much-awaited Motorola Droid Android OS 2.2 Froyo update has begun since August 3, 2010. Yes, folks! This is it. We’ve confirmed from our friends in New York that the Motorola Droid Milestone owners can now update their Android OS to Froyo via Over-the-Air (OTA). We’ve not been able to do it here in the Philippines since up until now, the Android OS 2.1 (Eclair) is still the one available in our phones. US residents, however, can now enjoy the following benefits of this free update to Android OS 2.2. Froyo on their Verizon Motorola Droid phone.
Summary of Motorola Droid Android 2.2 Froyo Update Features and Improvements
- Improved overall speed
- Great Flash 10.1 integration
- Improved security options
- Enhanced browser performance
- A better Android Market
- New tips, shortcuts and help from a home-screen widget
- The ability to stream music from any desktop library (including iTunes)
- Web and native apps
- Better video recording features, including LED flash and better YouTube uploading
- Automatic syncing between desktop and mobile applications
Sorry to say, the Asia-Pacific Region is not included (yet) in areas where the OTA upgrade of Motorola Droid Milestone was made available. UK, Canada and other parts of Europe are expected to follow next. Hopefully, Motorola Droid X owners get to update their Android OS to Froyo very soon as well. Too bad, OS update is not available to everyone at this point in time so you better wait for the official press release and check your Android phones for OTA updates at least once a week. Read more of our Android 2.2-related articles in the Related Post section to see how this topic developed over the past few weeks. When can you expect your Android OS 2.2 update? Just be patient and wait for Motorola’s confirmation.

I don’t think UK and Europe’s Motorola Droid Milestone users will get the Android 2.2 OS Froyo update faster than Asia Pacific as per the experience we got for an update to Android 2.1. Usually, the Europe will be the latest one to get this.

does the new android market look different? i just updated to Android 2.2 Froyo but my market looks the same in my Motorola Droid Milestone phone.
Yeah i got my Android 2.2 OS Froyo update for my Motorola Milestone Droid phone this morning and all i can say is take it back. Battery life is horrible and the phone is really slow and laggy now.
@Doug, me too, I’m ready to chuck my moto Droid in the trash after froyo. I’m giving it one last chance and my next search will be “how to remove froyo”. Nothing works as fast as it should or used to or sometimes some of the base apps wont work at all. My biggest complaint is Pandora which is my most used app, quality used to be close to CD quality but now even when set to high quality it sounds like complete crap. So disappointed by this that I had to uninstall Pandora. I mean after froyo it can hardly answer calls, I have to use the slide-to-answer and wait about 5 secs before the call will even pick up. This phone that I paid sooo much for when it first came out is pretty much worthless to me now… if there isn’t an update to fix this stuff in the next month I’m tossing this one!
pls me : I want os android v2.2 for motorola milestone
