Canon 500D: Canon EOS 500d aka Rebel T1i

After publishing our article about Sony Bravia 32” Class LCD HDTV: KDL-32M4000, we were impressed with what we have learned about the new Canon DSLR. First, we’d like to state here that Canon only made the announcement on their new product today.

According to Canon, the new Canon 500D (Canon EOS 500d aka Rebel T1i) is a 15MP DSLR powered by Digic 4 Image Processor. Canon 500D photos look very attractive. To find out more about the features and some specs of Canon EOS 500d also known as Canon T1i or Canon Rebel T1i (we’re a bit confused about the number of names this product has, honestly), read on:

1. New 15.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor with DIGIC 4 Image Processor for faster processing of fine detail and natural color reproduction, 14-bit A/D conversion for smooth color tones and gradations.
2. Full HD video capture at 1920 x 1080 resolution with HDMI output for HD viewing of stills and video.
3. Live View Function for stills (Quick, Live and Face Detection AF modes) and video.
4. 3.0-inch Clear View LCD (920,000 dots/VGA) monitor with anti-reflective and scratch-resistant coatings for improved viewing and smudge protection.
5. Auto Lighting Optimizer for superior highlight-shadow control.
6. Wide range ISO setting 100-3200 (ISO expansion: 6400, 12800).
7. Creative Auto goes a step beyond auto allowing control over frequently-changed settings.

That’s just what we have for now. We will publish our review of Canon 500D (Canon EOS 500d aka Rebel T1i) if and when we get the chance to interview some people who own this DSLR or when we get the chance to have our hand on this item.
