Panasonic Lumix G3 16MP Micro 4/3 Digital Camera Unveiled
Move over Canon and Nikon, Panasonic is the new king of micro four thirds digital cameras. The company just unveiled the new Panasonic Lumix G3 Micro 4/3 camera continues to set the trend for innovation. It is not only smaller than its industry-leading predecessors, the Panasonic GH2 16MP Digital SLM Camera and G2, but it also packs more powerful features! In fact, Panasonic is claiming the G3 to be the world’s smallest and lightest digital interchangeable lens camera with a viewfinder!
Panasonic solidifies its status as the best Micro 4/3 camera maker with the imminent release of the new Lumix G3 in June.
The Panasonic Lumix G3 Micro 4/3 Camera sports a brand new 16.6 Megapixel MOS sensor, a big upgrade from the previous model’s 12MP sensor. These latest versions of the Micro 4/3 wonder offers greater portability and better user controls too. The touchscreen 3-inch LCD viewfinder is more responsive and is fully articulated. This is one of the Panasonic cameras that feature touch-control photography. You can focus on any subject just by pressing the subject image in the LCD screen! The 16.6 MP sensor of the G3 not only takes vibrant, true-to-life images but it can also record full 1920×1080 HD videos with stereo audio in AVCHD format!
For professional photographers who still prefer traditional controls, the Panasonic Lumix G3 gives full manual controls with quick access to Program, Shutter, and Aperture Priority. You can even do custom modes aside from the G3′s numerous automatic modes. This micro 4/3 camera will accept any compatible Lumix or generic DSLR lens. Panasonic also gave the G3 a hotshoe for adding external flash but it also comes with a powerful built-in flash that works well even indoors.
The Panasonic Lumix G3 Micro 4/3 Camera is not only lighter and smaller than digital SLR camera. It’s also touted to be faster when it comes to focusing. It boasts 23 Area Auto Focusing Points and it features the new Panasonic Pinpoint AF technology. Pinpoint AF offers users extreme pixel-point accurate focusing with just a touch of your finger. Add to this the new Precision Contrast Lightspeed AF System and you get lightning-speed focusing at 0.1 second!
This camera now also boasts 4fps burst mode even at maxed 16.6MP resolution on manual setting. The G3 can even do blazing 20fps burst photography under autofocus mode in a reduced 4MP resolution! Manual focus is also further improved from the G2′s already excellent manual mode. This model now offers quick manual focusing even if you zoom beyond 4x optical. The Live MOS Sensor of the G3 reduces the manual focus detection time too.
The Lumix G3′s revolutionary 16.6MP Live MOS Sensor is nicely complemented by an improved Venus Engine FHD image processor. It not only makes your photos and videos superb but the Venus Engine also provides selective noise reduction without affecting image quality. Panasonic claims the G3 has reduced noise by 66%. This noise suppression improvement is especially noticeable when shooting at high ISO settings. Signal to noise ratio is significantly improved by 200%. Panasonic Lumix G3 Micro 4/3 Digital Camera is also built tough from special aluminum.
