Win a Free Web Hosting for Your Wordpress Blog
Do you want to have a Wordpress-powered blog and win cash at the same time? Ok, here is your chance to win a free web hosting for your Wordpress-powered blog and $100 in cash prizes. Ten (10) lucky contestants will be chosen to win this contest. Here are the prizes:
1) A free Wordpress-only blog hosting for one year with the following allocations: 1500MB web space + unlimited monthly bandwidth (domain not included as prize. You can buy your own domain from the seller of your choice).
If you know the value of a) a reliable web host to run your blog and 2) a trustworthy web administrator to handle all the troubleshooting of your blog and/or web server, then you have to join this contest because you’re going to get the two if you win this. However, here are two cases you have to consider before joining:
Case 1: If you already have a domain or plan to purchase a new domain. You will get a free hosting for one year if you have a domain already (accepted are new domains only. Old domains with some content will not be accepted to eliminate problems on migration like data loss and other errors). This is an 83-dollar worth of savings if you’ll purchase a web hosting plan for one year!
For the second year, you will have to pay a minimal fee (categorically a donation) for the maintenance of your website and web hosting. Not bad as you could make money for one full year without thinking of any obligations. You will also get to study Wordpress if you haven’t used it before in blogging.
Case 2. If you don’t have a domain. I will provide you with a subdomain for free. Subdomains act very much like a domain except that the web address will be in the formhttp://<subdomain>.<domain>.com or .net. You can do pretty much anything with a subdomain just like what somebody can with a domain — you can monetize it with adsense, do paid blogging, register it with social networks, etc. A subdomain is considered a separate entity by the search engines similar to those blogs hosted on Blogger, e.g., http://scottzprincess.blogspot.com where scottzprincess is the chosen subdomain of the user. Winners will have all the freedom to choose their subdomain. Setup is completely free of charge.
Additionally, for subdomains, your site will be hosted for free for as long as my web hosting plan and domain name are active (which will be until 2015. lol!). The good thing about a subdomain is its totally free. You don’t have to think about paying for a domain on a yearly basis.
Whatever is your choice, domain or subdomain, you get a Free web hosting for at least one year (see the difference between domain hosting and subdomain hosting above).
2) Aside from the free web hosting, cash prizes are to be won by the Top 3 winners. These cash prizes are as follows:
1st Prize: $25 (via Paypal) + 2,000 Entrecard credits
2nd Prize: $15 (via Paypal) + 1,500 Entrecard Credits
3rd Prize: $10 (via Paypal) + 500 Entrecard Credits
How to Join, Earn Points and Win
There are two ways to win: be a Contestant or a Voter-Only. To join and win as a Contestant, follow these simple rules:
For Contestants
1) RSS Subscription. Subscribe to my Free RSS feed via email so I can verify your email exists and not a fake one. This will earn you 10 points.
2) Blog Posting. Create an article in your site, talk about this contest and link to this article for me to verify your preference (domain hosting or subdomain hosting). Use either Free Domain Hosting or Free Subdomain Hosting as your anchor text for easier identification of your preference. You should also link to the homepage of this site with the following anchor text: Technology Talks. Your post must be original. Your pingback will be your official entry to this contest. This will earn you 25 points.
3) Encourage Readers. Winners will be determined by popularity. You will earn points if you will be able to encourage your readers to do the following: create a post about this contest and link to this article and to the homepage of this site similar to what is required of you as a contestant. They have to indicate your name or your site’s name in that post (whichever you will use in this contest as an entry). The pingback from your readers’ blog will only be valid if I will receive the pingback here that is why you have to manually check if I have already received the pingback or trackback in the comment section of this post until the winners are revealed. Only one (1) entry is allowed from one blog. If your voters have multiple sites, they can post articles in each of their sites and will be considered a separate entry provided the above-conditions are met. You will earn 15 points from each entry. With this in mind, you have to ask your readers’ support.
4) Convert Your Readers to Become Contestants. If your readers wish to participate in this contest, they have to create a separate post using another blog (if they have any) and follow the instructions given to Contestants. (see above Rules for Contestants). If you are able to refer a reader and convert him/her to become a participant, you will earn 20 points. I will have an official tabulator for this and will update everyone every couple of days.
For Voters-Only (Non-contestants)
There are also prizes waiting for Voters-Only, of course. Five (5) Voters-Only will be randomly selected and receive $10 each (via Paypal) + 500 Entrecard Credits. Nobody will lose in this contest. Contestants and voters will win!
All participants (Contestants and Voters-Only) and their websites will be posted and promoted here when the contest is over. We could even exchange links during this contest if you want.
Deadline of submission of entries for Contestants (through a blog post) will be on December 15 25, 2008. For Voters, the deadline of submission of votes (through a blog post) will be on December 30, 2008 at 5pm. Contestants are encouraged to campaign from the day of entry up to 5pm on December 30. Votes beyond that date and time will not be honored.
However, be warned of the grounds for disqualification.
Grounds for Disqualification
You will be disqualified if you commit any of the following:
- If you entered a fake email address
- If you did not post an article about this contest.
- If you will be voted by the same person (based on IP on the same day). Only one (1) vote per IP address is allowed to avoid cheating.
That’s it and then we’re ready to roll.
Winners will be announced on December 30, 2008 so I can officially host your blog starting January 1, 2009. Winners will be subject to certain rules of conduct in blogging. This is because I don’t want to host splogs (spam blogs) so if you’re a spammer and just wants to scatter some dirt online, then please don’t even bother to join. Who likes spammers, anyway?

Good job. Nagiging mas malinaw ang chances mong manalo fren. It’s a good deal for you dahil libre naman ang hosting kung mananalo ka. Isa pa ipopost ko yung mga plans of action ko as web server administration and benefits ng may web hosting manager. Ang totoo nyan mahirap mag-manage ng server at tumakbo yung mga site nang maayos. Daming programming skills na kailangan para gumana yung server. May regular maintenance kasi yan at tweaks na kailangan.
