You guys, Fingerprint is now work with Windows7. But there is something strange with this feature because it's always "ping" on the speaker in every 2 or 3 minutes perhaps 5 minute. I have also request for some advise from Acer (Thailand) there is not issue on this matter yet. I assume myself that all users who using Windows 7 should better wait after the official release.

Hey,
not too sure if you can help me but my concern is that my Acer Bio-Protection Fingerprint is not working like it used to. Before, when I open up my MSN Messenger or try to log into my e-mail, the thing that asks you to swipe your finger pops up, but now it doesn't even pop up for some odd reason. The only time it works is when I start up my computer and I swipe and logs me in. Do you know what the problem may be? By the way, I have the Aspire 6935. Thanks in advance.

Apparently there are many biometric solutions which DON'T work with IE8 (until now I did not hear of any one that works). Using biometrically-protected password banks is an addictive thing, especially with the ever growing number of sites requiring login, often clicking a link and needing to enter new login information before seeing the contents under the respective link. For the past two years I've been using a Lenovo R61i with fingerprint reader and password manager. Now I am using an Acer Aspire 8930G with fingerprint reader, Acer Bio Protection AAV and password bank (Vista Business 32). Different solutions, same result: they are working with IE7, not with IE8. It's pretty sad that I have to still use IE7 (mainly because I get many links in mail that lead to sign-in protected sites) as long as Windows Update is proposing IE8 as an important update already for a long time. Because of the number of different non-working biometric solutions I do think there should be something to be done from IE8 side, like passing compatible messages while in sign-in screens between IE8 and any biometric software. There probably is a certain form of messages or protocol that IE7 is using, and biometric software recognize... Hope these aren't patented :D Otherwise... I can't wait to upgrade...
I agree with Pangs that all answers that were given until now are just wild guesses, not at all documented. It is even unbelievable that a support engineer could suggest that a driver that works well under Vista with another Microsoft product (IE7) should be upgraded to support a new Microsoft application (IE8)... maybe all hardware providers should re-write their Vista drivers each time a new application pops on the market? If so, why do we need an OS in the end?
