Facebook’s 0.facebook.com is a Faster Mobile Website Version
Hey, folks, may we take a moment off from lambasting Facebook for their privacy-violations. In case you didn’t know, I am now enjoying much faster access to Facebook from my Samsung Galaxy S i9000 android phone. I am also delighted to discover that my Facebook visits aren’t eating up my phone’s monthly data plan. This is because last May 18, the company released a much-improved version of its website for mobile phone users. The new site is 0.facebook.com (“0″ is zero) and it’s a godsend for someone like me who just can’t keep away from Facebook.
Facebook “Stories” App Launched after Facebook Users Reached 500 Million in Number
I’m sure Google and Yahoo aren’t happy with this news especially that Google Me social networking platform is in the works. Facebook, after only 6 years of existence, has reached a major milestone by reaching 500 million members. The social networking site’s young founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg made this significant announcement on his blog. Google Me producers (Google and Zynga) must be upset but who cares? Obviously, very proud and jubilant of this record-setting feat, Zuckerberg said this level of success was never imagined when he launched Facebook 6 years ago from his college dorm.
Facebook Adds “Face Detection Technology” to Photos Uploaded by Legit Users
Social networking titan Facebook is again pioneering another first in web 2.0 technology. The company just added automatic face detection to all photos uploaded on their servers. Facebook already enjoys almost 500 million users and those facebookers upload almost 100 million pictures everyday! The company felt it need to make photo-tagging an easier task for their loyal users. Facebook already takes time to upload and browse a multitude of pictures but the new face-detection algorithm will ease the burden of tagging these photos.
Quit Facebook Day Launched by 32K Users Who Quit Facebook
More than 32K users have quit Facebook on Monday. This same group of ex-Facebook members launched a “Quit Facebook Day” and have started to encourage other users to quit the biggest social networking site as of today. According to these Facebook quitters, privacy policies in Facebook have been violated. Farmville and Mafia Wars players in Facebook should read this article in full. These games or game apps are some of the better reasons why FB has become extremely popular and have driven new users to sign up everyday.
Facebook Game App MMA Pro Fighter Review and Tips for Beginners
I am currently playing the free MMA Pro Fighter game in Facebook at the office right now. I am now level 12 and having a good time getting pummeled by virtual fighters. Earning money on this game is quite difficult and winning fights is equally hard. Playing MMA Pro Fighter on Facebook is not as convenient as playing Mafia Wars primarily because it has level-gap restriction in fighting. While I can still get a little bit of XP and money from bullying lower level, it is not an efficient way to level up. In spite of these drawbacks, I can say I’m starting to like this game.
MMA Pro Fighter Facebook Game App: Takedown and Knockout Your Facebook Friends!
MMA Pro Fighter is a dream come true for mixed martial arts fans worldwide. I am a big fan of mixed martial arts and I occasionally fantasize about getting on the Octagon. I sure would like to get it on with Cro Cop, Rampage Jackson, Lyoto Machida and Chuck Liddell. Dreaming is free and every time I watch UFC fights, I pretend I am the one pounding the opponents in the in the octagon ring!
HipHop PHP: Free/Open Source Facebook PHP Compiler Speeds Up Page Loading
HipHop PHP is out and ready. Facebook, the world’s largest social networking company has released its own open-source compiler for PHP named HipHop. Kanye West and Eminem should be happy with Facebook’s choice of name. HipHop is randy and PHP programmers could use some bling to their arsenal of tools. This free PHP compiler will undergo continuous development with the help of programmers worldwide. We’ve been looking for the download page of the free HipHop PHP compiler but we can’t find any so sorry for that. As an alternative, we’ve provided a link to the Google Groups page at the bottom of this article that will take you to the Dev page of the free software.
Top 10 Games on Facebook: Play the Ten Most Popular Games on Facebook
I have been preaching before that superior gaming experience is the main reason why Facebook became the world’s biggest social network in 2009. MySpace used to be the biggest social network but Facebook made the right decision to open its platform to more casual gaming companies. Although Friendster is trying to catch up in the area of social gaming, it’s still no match to top games offered in Facebook like Zynga’s hit FarmVille and Cafe World, which are not offered in MySpace and made the big difference. Facebook hit 350 million unique users last November 2009 and dethroned MySpace. Check out this impressive gaming stats for Facebook for the month of January 2010. I am only stating the ten most popular casual games in Facebook but nevertheless, it should be a wake-up call to MySpace to offer better games to match the Top 10 Games on Facebook which are very popular these days.
Zynga Players Donate $1.5 Million to Haiti Earthquake Victims
I have been praising Zynga, the creator of Mafia Wars and other top Free Facebook Apps, for its tremendous success on the social gaming circuit. Launched only in 2007 and in less than 3 years, it is already leading the $2-billion dollar virtual goods market. This San Francisco-based company is giving back and sharing its blessings.
Free Facebook Email Service Project Titan Is Coming Soon
In a bid to offer more than social networking and gaming to its 400 million plus users worldwide, Facebook is working hard on its own webmail. Facebook dubbed the free email service as Project Titan, allegedly a full-blown webmail with features comparable to Gmail. Project Titan is going to completely support POP/IMAP. This means you will be able to connect your email not only through Facebook but from any email app that supports POP/IMAP. Rumor has it that Project Titan is already being touted as a potential Gmail-killer. There is still an ongoing bad blood between Facebook and Google (which launched Google Buzz – Google’s social networking tool built-in with Gmail). Facebook is offering more applications for free in an effort to maintain its vast daily website traffic. Google is unhappy that it can’t serve Google Adsense on Facebook.
