Top 10 Games on Facebook: Play the Ten Most Popular Games on Facebook

February 15, 2010 · Filed Under Facebook News · 1 Comment

I have been preaching before that superior gaming experience is the main reason why Facebook became the world’s biggest social network in 2009. MySpace used to be the biggest social network but Facebook made the right decision to open its platform to more casual gaming companies. Although Friendster is trying to catch up in the area of social gaming, it’s still no match to top games offered in Facebook like Zynga’s hit FarmVille and Cafe World, which are not offered in MySpace and made the big difference. Facebook hit 350 million unique users last November 2009 and dethroned MySpace. Check out this impressive gaming stats for Facebook for the month of January 2010. I am only stating the ten most popular casual games in Facebook but nevertheless, it should be a wake-up call to MySpace to offer better games to match the Top 10 Games on Facebook which are very popular these days.

I have been praising Zynga, the creator of Mafia Wars and other top Free Facebook Apps, for its tremendous success on the social gaming circuit. Launched only in 2007 and in less than 3 years, it is already leading the $2-billion dollar virtual goods market. This San Francisco-based company is giving back and sharing its blessings.

Free Facebook Email Service Project Titan Is Coming Soon

February 14, 2010 · Filed Under Facebook News · Comment

In a bid to offer more than social networking and gaming to its 400 million plus users worldwide, Facebook is working hard on its own webmail. Facebook dubbed the free email service as Project Titan, allegedly a full-blown webmail with features comparable to Gmail. Project Titan is going to completely support POP/IMAP. This means you will be able to connect your email not only through Facebook but from any email app that supports POP/IMAP. Rumor has it that Project Titan is already being touted as a potential Gmail-killer.  There is still an ongoing bad blood between Facebook and Google (which launched Google Buzz – Google’s social networking tool built-in with Gmail). Facebook is offering more applications for free in an effort to maintain its vast daily website traffic. Google is unhappy that it can’t serve Google Adsense on Facebook.

New Facebook Launched After Six Years: Gets a New Home Page Facelift

February 13, 2010 · Filed Under Facebook News · 1 Comment

After having been attacked by a vicious Facebook virus or several worms in the past, a new Facebook site redesign must have been one solution the admins have thought of. Of course, the new Facebook home page was an attractive treat to everyone especially those who are new to the social network but, is the new Facebook any good? Here’s my review of the new Facebook.

First, I could say I was one of the unlucky 80 Million Facebook addicts who got the new homepage redesign. I went out for lunch and came back to login to my FarmVille account but lo and behold! My Facebook Homepage did a Heidi Montag on me. The new home page was a stranger and was perplexing the first time I had it yesterday. It took me some time to figure out out how to do the usual things. The bottom toolbar where I used to access apps and games have completely disappeared! I couldn’t find my App shortcut for FarmVille, I had to use the Search button so I could harvest my Strawberry crop at FarmVille.

Koobface Virus, also known as Facebook Worm or Facebook Virus has resurfaced to attack Facebook and Myspace users.
