Mozilla Firefox Most Vulnerable of 10 Most Vulnerable Softwares of 2008
The news about Mozilla Firefox being the most vulnerable software of 2008 (Top 10 list of most vulnerable softwares review by expert) is expected. Many Firefox users have complained about Firefox vulnerabilities claiming that they got their passwords stolen and that Firefox cannot protect them from phising sites or when allegedly, Facebook was phishing info from its users during the Koobface Virus Attack).
Personally, I love Firefox. That is on a personal level. What I love are the availability of plugins, addons and extensions that help me work better online either as a blogger or as web developer. However, I have encountered countless Firefox crashes before. Sometimes, Firefox even closes when my internet connection is not available. This, among other abnormal behaviors of Firefox made it to the Top of the list of 10 Most Vulnerable Softwares of 2008. I can only agree.

Beware of Email Scams on the Internet
I was really astonished to know that email scams on the internet constitute 90% of the total emails sent daily, Cisco reported. Agence France-Presse also indicated that “armies of hijacked computers are flooding the world with spam as hackers devise slicker ways to take over unwitting people’s machines”. This report was based on Cisco’s findings.
Beware of email scams, that’s the only advice I can give you. Don’t open emails coming from unknown sources especially those claiming that you’ve won a large sum of money. Read more
Secure Websites are Even Vulnerable to DDOS Attacks
Recent news on internet security reveals how vulnerable our online activities are, especially online transactions. This is because even teenagers can hack secure sites like the Church of Scientology website using DDOS attacks. Before this, I have blogged about the Limbo Malware and Invitation Virus (which turned out to be a hoax). Please read them if you are interested in more stories about internet security.
Download Free Anti-virus Software, Firewall Software and Secure Email Software for Your Online Protection
There are many computer tools like free anti-virus softwares, firewall softwares and secure email softwares that can be downloaded over the internet. The reason why computer tools like these are needed is simple: you can’t trust everything online. When you transact online, it’s possible that you could be hijacked by malwares like the Limbo malware, or when you open your email, your mailbox could be infected by the alleged Torch/Invitation Virus. Even cell phones could be attacked by viruses. WTF!!
Limbo Malware is on the Loose so Beware: Be Careful With Your Bank Account Information
Do you transact online and do online banking? If yes, then beware of Limbo malware. It’s a Trojan horse program that can hijack your account by injecting itself in web browsers and requests bank card numbers and PIN numbers from innocent or unknowing users.
According to IDG News Service, the malware known as Limbo “integrates itself into a Web browser using a technique called HTML injection, said Uri Rivner, head of new technologies at RSA Consumer Solutions. Because it’s so closely integrated in the browser, it can operate even while the user is at the real bank site and can actually change the layout of that site, he said.”
Olympic Torch Virus aka Invitation Virus
How true that there is an email virus going around the internet that has a subject line called “INVITATION”?. I got this info from my mailbox saying that “Do not open any message with an attached file called ‘Invitation’ regardless of who sent it, It is a virus that opens an Olympic Torch which ‘burns’ the whole hard disc C of your computer.” Categorically, the alleged virus is fit to be named “Olympic Torch Virus”.
