Toyota Prius Recall Caused by Prius Brake Problem

Date Published: February 10, 2010

The 2010 Toyota PRIUS Hybrid Car was not included in the January 2010 list of Toyota recall cars. However, PRIUS is facing almost the same huge problem as its brakes are under recall. The Toyota PRIUS brake problem was rumored as early as December 2009. In fact, Prius owners claimed these brake problems and was reported on MSNBC.

The huge buzz on Toyota PRIUS brake problem came out in February 3, 2010. Toyota admitted that there were complaints of inconsistent brake feel on the 2010 Toyota PRIUS Car when it is driven over bumps, potholes or slippery road surfaces and the company was currently investigating the issue. Upon confirmation of the PRIUS brake problems, Toyota addressed the issue by filing a voluntary recall.

Toyota announced a voluntary recall on the 2010 Toyota PRIUS Hybrid and 2010 Lexus HS 250h cars to update the ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) software on February 8, 2010. This Toyota Recall includes 2010 Toyota PRIUS cars that were built since May 2009 and all 2010 Lexus HS 250h cars. The two car models are both under recall because they have the same ABS design.

Toyota PRIUS 2010 model owners included in the recall will be notified through mail on when to bring their vehicles to the dealers. The Toyota PRIUS recall will begin in the middle of February 2010. This recall was set to correct the 2010 PRIUS brake problem that was recently confirmed by Toyota.

According to Toyota, all 2010 Toyota PRIUS Hybrid Cars included in the ABS recall are safe to drive because pressing hard on the brake pedal will stop the vehicle.
