2011 Ford Explorer: Fifth Generation Ford Explorer Production Starts in 2010

The 2011 Ford Explorer is the fifth generation of Ford Explorer SUV. It was introduced as one of Ford’s concept cars or vehicles in the 2008 North American International Auto Show (Detroit Auto Show). The 2011 model of Ford Explorer was nicknamed America concept vehicle.

In December 2009, 2011 Ford Explorer was spied on the streets of Detroit, Michigan undergoing road test getting it ready for production. However, it was covered with a black sheet to conceal its design. As of the 26th of January 2010, Ford Motor Company confirmed the production start of fifth generation Ford Explorer (2011 model).

Ford Explorer America production will begin in the fourth quarter of 2010. The 2011 Ford Explorer SUV will be manufactured in Ford Motor Company’s Chicago Assembly Plant. This is great news not only for people who wants to take a glance at the fifth generation Ford Explorer but for future employees in the assembly plant. The production of the 2011 Ford Explorer in Chicago, Illinois will be hiring approximately 1,200 employees for the Chicago Manufacturing Facility.

Aside from the 2011 Ford Explorer, other concept cars or prototypes were featured on this site. These vehicles had their debut at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. One of these concept cars was the Toyota FT-CH Concept Car, 2011 Ford Mustang and more.
