What is the weight of Porsche Boxster Spyder 2010? Why is the Spyder lighter than other Porsche Boxter models? What makes the Boxster Spyder by Porsche better than other hot and sexy cars? Discover the great features of the 2010 Porsche Boxster Spyder below.

One of the highlights of the 2010 Porsche Boxster Spyder among previous models is its engine. The Porsche Boxster 2010 Spyder has 6 cylinders with a displacement of 3.4L. The Porsche Boxster Spyder has a maximum power of 320 horsepower at 7,200 RPM and maximum torque of 273 lb-ft. at 4,750 RPM. This vehicle’s compression ratio is 12.5:1.

Aside from the fact that 2010 Porsche Boxster Spyder is faster, lighter and more powerful than previous models, Porsche also integrated a firmer suspension and was designed 1-inch lower for firmer handling. Porsche Boxster Spyder comes with a standard manual transmission and Porsche’s PDK dual-clutch gearbox as an option.

Another great feature of the 2010 Porsche Boxster Spyder is its weight. The Boxster Spyder only weighs 1,275 kg which is 80 kg lighter than Boxster S. This very light weight was achieved by eliminating 7 features that were present in the Boxter S. The Porsche Boxster 2010 model or Porsche Boxster Spyder lacks the following features:

  • conventional soft top’s operating mechanism
  • large LED light modules on the front fascia
  • the radio/PCM unit
  • air conditioning
  • storage compartments
  • door handles
  • cupholders

The canvas top is manually-operated since automatic operating mechanism was removed. However, the eliminated features can still be integrated in the 2010 Porsche Boxster Spyder by customer’s specifications at an additional expense of course. A great business strategy for Porsche but not that good for our pockets. LOL!

Porsche Boxster Spyder release date or 2010 Porsche Boxster release date will be within February 2010 but the exact day of release is still unannounced. The Porsche Boxster 2010 or Porsche Boxster Spyder Car is offered at a base price of US$61,200 (cheaper than the Porsche Boxster S release price of US$66,900 in 2008). If you want to add the eliminated features such as air conditioning, the 2010 Porsche Boxster Spyder will cost a bit higher than the suggested retail price quoted above.
