Porsche Boxster cars are roadsters which existed since 1994. The Boxster by Porsche are actually mid-engined roadster cars. For those who are unfamiliar with the term “roadster”, roadsters are 4-wheel cars which usually lack a roof, side windows and rear windows. However, modern day roadsters such as the Porsche Boxster may come as convertibles with a soft-top roof. Example of this convertible Porsche Boxster roadster is the photo below – the 2010 Porsche Boxster model also called the Porsche Boxster Spyder.

After giving a short background about Porsche Boxster roadsters, let us focus on the latest model of this type of vehice by Porche – the Boxster Spyder. The Porsche Boxster 2010 or Porsche Boxster Spyder had its debut in the 2009 Los Angeles Motor Show (November 5, 2009) along side another model, the 2010 Porsche Cayman. In fact, the 2010 Porsche Boxster was even the cover of Road & Track car magazine, November 2009 issue.

What is it about the 2010 Porsche Boxster that excites everyone? The 2010 model or Boxster Spyder is the lightest Porsche Boxster ever made. The Porsche Boxster Spyder 2010 weighs only 1,275 kg (2,811 pounds) which is 80 kg (176 pounds) lighter than its ancestor, the Porsche Boxster S. This was done by eliminating many elements that were present in previous Boxster models.
The 2010 Porsche Boxster model or Porsche Boxster Spyder’s release date worldwide is scheduled this coming February 2010. The unit price for the 2010 Porsche Boxster Spyder is only US$ 61,200.
