The largest lake in Central America is lake Nicaragua with an area of 8,264 square kms, it is the largest lake in Central America, the 21st largest lake in the world (by area) and only slightly smaller than Lake Titicaca. With an elevation of 32 m (105 ft) above sea level, the lake reaches a depth of 26 m (84 ft). It is intermittently joined by the Tipitapa River to Lake Managua.

In terms of technology, the largest lake in Central America is dependent on alternative sources of energy like solar, biomass, and geothermal, to generate commercial power.

Lake Nicaragua is a good example to the whole world that we can curb our addiction to petroleum products and turn to viable alternative energy sources. In Brazil, ethanol powers 85% of cars. In Netherlands, the primary source of power for homes and business establishments is the wind.

With these developments in technology, I think we might as well follow suit and go green. In the Philippines, just like in the largest lake in Central America (Lake Nicaragua), Palawan is starting to adapt the same strategies in generating power and producing environment-friendly fuels for cars. This is just a preview of future topics in this site. More update on this be posted in the future. Let the largest lake in Central America be an example to the whole world. :-)
