Windows 7 Screenshots: A Way to Convince More Users to Use Windows 7?

October 31, 2008 · Filed Under Windows · 2 Comments

Microsoft recently released some screenshots of Windows 7 which is an advertisement of course. Is Microsoft really expecting more users to use Windows 7 after Windows Vista failed tremendously in sales and overall performance? Maybe they shold just give away Windows for free just like Windows Azure (a free Windows operating system). Wow! Windows 7 as a free OS? Now, that is a joke! Microsoft has not been known in any community as a company that will give away something but will not take anything in return. I’m not against the company. I just love the Opensource community very much that my support and sympathy goes out to Linux (like Linux Ubuntu and Linux Mint) and other opensource softwares. Go, Opensource!

Windows Azure: Microsoft’s New Free Windows OS?

October 31, 2008 · Filed Under Windows · 3 Comments

Is Microsoft going nuts by releasing a free Windows OS called Windows Azure? I was talking to some computer guys like myself last night and we were amazed with this news. MICROSOFT GIVING AWAY AN OS FOR FREE? Are they kidding? A free Windows OS from one of the world’s most controversial companies? We first thought this was a joke but it’s true. Windows Azure is Microsoft’s new free Windows OS but… for a limited time only. It will only be made available to developers for now so that the Microsoft team can still improve the Windows Azure before its release to the market/public in 2009 (hopefully). It could be released to the public before Windows 7.

Windows 7 Release: Just a Windows Vista Upgrade or a Separate Windows OS?

October 28, 2008 · Filed Under Windows · 8 Comments

Recent news on the internet has it that Microsoft Corporation is going to release Windows 7 as their new operating system after Windows Vista did not perform well in the sales department. Windows Vista’s failure came when it did not outperform Windows XP as an operating system. In fact many users still prefer Windows XP over Windows Vista because the latter consumes so much of a computer’s memory and other resources slowing down processing and loading times of softwares. So, is Windows 7 just a Vista upgraded or a separate OS dressed up with new icons, themes and wallpapers? We’re not sure of the answer until we get our hands on it.

Latest Linux Ubuntu 8.10 Desktop Edition Features and Release Date

October 28, 2008 · Filed Under Linux Distros · 8 Comments

Ubuntu Linux 8.10 release date is October 30I have been using Linux Ubuntu 7.04 for a few months now and I really love the features of the Ubuntu desktop version. I’ve been waiting eagerly for the release of Linux Ubuntu 8.10 which will be released on October 30 this year. I am excited to see the features of the latest Linux Ubuntu 8.10 which are truly promising.

The reason why I use Linux Ubuntu as my second operating system is simple - to have a second OS that will serve me well when Windows XP or Windows Vista crashes (of course we have experienced this at least once I’m sure).

Macbook Features, Prices and Full Technical Specifications

October 24, 2008 · Filed Under Laptops/Notebooks · 3 Comments

Macbook full specifications, features and pricesAs the battle of laptops/notebooks surges once more with the release of Macbook and Macbook Pro units, manufacturers of laptops are scrambling to make their products’ features attractive to the consumers. The Macbook and Macbook Pro features are not an exemption to this rule. The full technical specifications of the latest laptops from Apple are really impressive but some experts say Apple has put so much emphasis on physical features and sacrificed the overall functionality of the two notebooks priced at $1299 (Macbook) and $1999 (Macbook Pro). In the Philippines, those figures would mean that Macbook’s price is around PhP 62,000 and Macbook Pro’s Price is somewhere in the neighborhood of Php 95,000. The cost is still high for either of the two models for the common Filipino to buy in my view. The price or cost of the Macbook alone (PhP 62K) is enough to send a college student here to school for one year. For the affluent though, this amount is no big deal. :-)
